I live in Southeastern Wisconsin so here’s my question…I am wondering how cold should it be before you start blanketing… I have a sheet, mid weight blanket, and heavy weight. My horse goes out regardless of the weather from about 7am til about 6pm. Are barn is not heated and we only have 7 horses there so at night it doesnt heat up a ton. So for anyone else who blankets there horse(s) would you be able to tell me roughly how cold it is before you put each blanket on.

We are moving from California where my horse doesn’t need to be blanketed to a climate where it gets very cold in the winter, sometimes below zero. We’ve never lived anywhere this cold. I believe she will acclimate, but for this first winter I want to keep her warm.
Any suggestions on what type of blanket I need to purchase? Brands? Types? What do I need to look for? She will not be in a barn, only have a basic covered stall.

None of the other horses around her have them on. It is going to be a very cold night.I need so opinions on this.
