How to train a horse is something that will begin from birth.  Most horses might not be handled at birth or even until they are ready to be trained to saddle but from birth they will learn all about the world around them.  But once the horse becomes yours and of training age it will be your job to train it properly.  For some, training properly means that you will shell out the money to have someone else do it.  But there is so much that you can do yourself that you will be surprised.

I was wondering because I read somewhere that blanketing a horse with a winter hair coat reduces the horses natural protection against cold. She’s outside almost all the time.

This is my first Pennsylvania winter as a horse owner in 20+ years. I don’t know if I need to blanket my horses. My brother who lives and owns horses in Colorado says that I don’t need to. What do you all think/do?

Since it is like 30 degrees (F) outside, we put our horses winter blankets on. If it is a fairly mild day, but still cold out, is it ok to still lunge my horse with his blanket on? Thanks!
