Hey-
Ok, so I been blanketing my horses for years and I just got a new gelding who stands in the rain when it rains . He has a weather beeta on and I have also tryed a rambo but neither can withsatnd the amount of rain he stands under. Does anyone know of a brand that is especially water proof? Thanks!

weathabeeta sheets are far from being even rain resistant.
buccas is the best for me, the care and upkeep is what will keep the sheet rain resistant for longer.
You might want to look for a rainsheet. These are specifically meant to keep the rain off horses and are pretty much rain proof. They are not usually thick at all and should be put on over the blanket that you use on him.
my sheet works pretty good but my horse also wont stand in the rain for hours on end. there is probably no blanket that will stay absolutly water proof becuase of the moisture in the air….like when you stay in a tent and its raining it stops the water but there is just so much moisture in the air that the condensation still builds up inside. So i would say dont waste your money trying out new blankets just maybe try to lock him in the barn or something.( your lucky that your horse likes the rain my mare when it starts raining cant even function she broke out of her feild pasture and broke into the corral where the barn was so she could get inside one time lol)
I use Shire rugs indoor and outdoor and they are fantastic. Have been using the same rug on my horse for 4 years now and I have never had to get it re-water proofed. The stable rug is also holding up perfectly. They have several different types of outdoors. I have one called ’stormbreaker’ and with most of their rugs you can also get the detachable neck extension. Brilliant rugs and not very expensive either.
Surprise…never have had a problem with Rambo; rain, snow, ice..doesn’t matter…they look wet on the outside but place your hand under the blanket and the horse will be dry.
I live in the UK and we have had a terrific amount of rain this winter, if my horses didn’t stand out in it they would never have the chance to graze.
My rugs are Rhinegold and although it looks wet on the outside it is bone dry and cosy on the inside.
Atleast you attempt to keep him dry! lol A lot of people dont care and let their horses get rain-rot. =/ Kudos for you!
Anyway, what you should so is instead of getting a blanket that claims it is water proof, just get a rain-cover. Put a think sheet or however thick you need on the horse then put the rain cover over.
